Corporate Citizenship is a key component of our Core Values. We believe in giving back to our community and offering services that benefit our employees and their families. We do this through various outlets in our community and within our own organization:

Boys Scouts of America Tuscarora Council

We have supported the Scouts in our community by sponsoring the Boy Scouts of America Golf Tournament since 1990.

Wayne Pregnancy Center (WPC)

We sponsor the Wayne Pregnancy Center’s 5k fundraising race, provide in-kind donations, and hire from the WPC facility when applicable.

United Way

Sherwin Herring has served as the United Way Campaign Chairman and on the Board of Directors for several years. Our employees provide annual contributions, and Southco matches 50% of those of gifts. April Garver is also a current member and has served as Past President.

The House of Fordham Homeless Shelter

Every Tuesday we provide perishables and other products to be handed out to the House of Fordham residents and the homeless in our community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County

Sherwin Herring served as Past President and a member of the Board of Directors at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County. We donate products to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County’s Pancake Day & Pig in the Park annual fundraisers.

Touch a Truck

We sponsor this educational, family friendly event that features a wide selection of different vehicles for children to explore in a safe supervised environment.

Employee Engagement

Family Fun Day

This annual celebration of our families includes over 150 employees and their families enjoying food, games, and prize giveaways.

Employee Christmas project

Our employees adopt a local agency and serve the residents a meal, gives them bags of groceries, and spends time interacting with the group. Funds are raised by the employees, and includes a company match on all donations collected.

C12 group

We are members of The C12 group, which is a confidential and intimate environment where like-minded peers share ideas, discover and plan for areas in their business that need improvement, hold each other accountable, and encourage one another to conduct business in a God-honoring way.

Corporate Chaplains of America

Corporate Chaplains of America provides a chaplain that brings care and compassion to the workplace, ministers to our employees on a voluntary basis and holds weekly devotions.

Healthcare Counseling

A nurse from UNC Healthcare visits our facility twice a month and offers advice and healthcare services when applicable to our employees.

Wayne Community College Scholarship

Southco is proud to offer 2 scholarships to Wayne Community College every year for our employees and their children.
